Joel Chan, MD
Dr. Chan graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 1991 and from the University of Southern California Medical School in 1995. He completed residency training in clinical and anatomic pathology as well as fellowships in Surgical Pathology and Hematopathology at the Los Angeles County, USC Medical Center. He is certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and Hematology. Prior to joining Pathology Inc. he was the Director of Hematopathology Diagnostic Services at IMPATH Inc., Los Angeles and the Director of Hematopathology at AD PathLabs, Inc.
Christopher Felten, DO
Dr. Felten received his degree in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He graduated from Western University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1995. He completed residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles and a Hematopathology fellowship at the University of California, Los Angeles. He is certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and Hematology. He served as staff hematopathologist for IMPATH/Genzyme Genetics from 2001-2006 prior to joining Pathology Inc.

- Innovative gating strategies and a thorough understanding of the subtleties of antigen expression increase result sensitivity and accuracy.
- Five color flow utilizing carefully selected antibody combinations focuses on the clinical question without excessive, unnecessary testing preserving valuable specimen for targeted analysis.
- A large library of antibodies is available for difficult cases, such as bi-lineal or minimally differentiated acute leukemia.
Consultations
- Drs. Chan and Felten work together with referring physicians to provide comprehensive consultative reports, including recommending and arranging for ancillary diagnostic and prognostic studies.
Reporting
- Flow cases cases reported within 24 hours; specimens received before 2:30pm are reported and faxed the same day.
- Verbal consultations accompany all flow cytometric immunophenotype and consultation cases improving both communication with the referring physician and overall patient care.
