Fresh stool delivered to the lab within 12hrs of collection is the preferred specimen. Sterile collection container and collection trap are also acceptable or Ova and Parasite Para-Pak vials. Collect stool and duodenal aspirate specimens up to the fill line of the vial set.
Clinical Utility
To identify a variety of gastrointestinal parasites, such as Giardia and Entamoeba histolytica. To diagnose parasitic infestation; identify worms recovered from patient; establish presence or absence of parasite(s).
