Instructions/Notes

Transfer stool with 30 minutes of collection into formalin or Total-Fix(R) vial. Fill to line on transport vial. Mix contents throughly until homogenous.

Clinical Utility

Giardia is a protozoan that can cause diarrhea. Infection occurs after ingestion of contaminated food or water. Antigen detection is considered an alternative to stool examination.
