Frozen plasma from Lavender (EDTA)
Plasma specimens may be stored at room temperature (25°C to 30°C) for up to 1 day
Refrigerated (2°C to 8°C) for up to 6 days
Frozen at -20°C to -80°C for up to 6 weeks
It is recommended that specimens be stored in 1.2- 2 mL sterile aliquot tubes.
Plasma specimens may be frozen and thawed up to 5 times without a significant loss of HIV-1 RNA.

Specimen Requirements
Lavender EDTA Plasma or PPT tubes (K3EDTA with gel)
Store whole blood at 2°C to 25°C for no longer than 24 hours. Separate plasma from whole blood within 24 hours of collection by centrifugation at 800-1600 x g for 20 minutes at room temperature. Transfer plasma to a sterile polypropylene tube. IMPORTANT: Plasma must be removed from cells within 24 hours of collection time.
