1. Specimens should be centrifuged and separated within 2 hours of venipuncture. 2. Serum separator tubes are acceptable. 3. For longer stability, store and transport at or below -60 degrees on dry ice. 4. Ship frozen on dry ice.

Lp-PLA2 can be used in conjunction with clinical evaluation and patient risk assessment as an aid in predicting risk for coronary heart disease and ischemic stroke associated with atherosclerosis.
