Vaginal, cervical, endocervical, urine, semen specimens and sterile body fluids in BD® Universal Transport Media (UTM). Specimens older than 48hrs must be tested by Molecular method (Test code #5414).

Held 5 days before reporting unless Ureaplasma and Mycoplasma are positive.

Instructions/Notes

Aseptically remove cap from vial and immerse collected fluids into vial or insert swab into the vial with media. Break swab shaft by bending it against the vial wall evenly at the pre-scored line. Replace cap on vial and close tightly.

Clinical Utility

To detect and isolate Mycoplasm/Ureaplasma organisms.
